Accessibility Statement
Our Commitment
Georgia Spine & Sports Rehab is committed to ensuring digital access for all patients and visitors, including people with disabilities. We treat web accessibility as a continuous practice, not a one-time project, and we apply the same standards of care to our website that we apply to our clinical work.
Conformance Status
This website is designed and built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.2 AA is the technical standard referenced in U.S. federal accessibility law and is widely adopted as the 2026 baseline for accessible web design.
We also align our practices with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title III, which applies to places of public accommodation including medical and chiropractic offices, and with Section 504 and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act where applicable.
What We’ve Built In
Specific accessibility features implemented across this site include:
- Semantic HTML5 structure with proper landmarks (header, nav, main, footer, section) so screen readers can navigate page regions.
- Skip-to-main-content link at the top of every page for keyboard and screen-reader users.
- Heading hierarchy (h1 through h6) used in correct nesting order so assistive technology can build a usable outline of each page.
- Descriptive alternative text on every meaningful image, including clinical photographs, equipment views, doctor portraits, and athlete testimonials.
- ARIA labels on icon-only buttons, navigation links, video controls, and complex interactive components.
- Visible keyboard focus indicators on all interactive elements (links, buttons, form fields, video players) so keyboard-only users can see where they are on the page.
- Color contrast meeting or exceeding WCAG 2.2 AA minimums (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text) across primary text, accent text, and interactive states.
- Color is never the only signal. Status, errors, and emphasis are also conveyed through text, icons, or position.
- Responsive type and layout down to 320 px viewport width, with text that reflows without horizontal scrolling at 200% browser zoom.
- Touch targets of at least 44×44 CSS pixels on primary controls in line with WCAG 2.2 Success Criterion 2.5.8 (Target Size Minimum).
- Reduced-motion support via the
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query, so users who have requested less motion at the system level see substantially reduced animation and transition effects. - Captioning-ready video players with native browser controls and
playsinlineattributes for iOS compatibility. - Predictable navigation with the same primary navigation, footer, and skip-link placement on every page.
- Form labels and error guidance on every form input, with clear instructions and submission feedback.
- Structured data (Schema.org) for clinic information, services, doctor credentials, and video content so screen-reader-driven search and AI assistants can return accurate information about the practice.
- Plain-language medical content. Conditions and services pages are written in straightforward English, with technical terms defined where they appear.
Technical Specifications
This website relies on the following technologies for conformance with the accessibility standards above:
- HTML5
- CSS3 (including
prefers-reduced-motion) - JavaScript (used progressively; core content and navigation function without JavaScript enabled)
- WAI-ARIA where native HTML semantics are insufficient
- Schema.org structured data for clinic, physician, condition, service, FAQ, and video content
The site is tested with current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge on desktop, and Chrome and Safari on iOS and Android. It is tested with VoiceOver on macOS and iOS and with the keyboard-only mode of these browsers.
Assessment Approach
We assess accessibility through a combination of:
- Manual testing by a sighted reviewer using a keyboard only, with the mouse and touchpad disabled.
- Manual testing with the VoiceOver screen reader on macOS and iOS.
- Automated audits using Lighthouse and axe-core during page builds.
- Color-contrast verification with WebAIM’s Contrast Checker for each color pairing used in the design system.
- Mobile responsiveness verification at 320, 375, 390, 414, and 768 px viewport widths.
Known Limitations
Despite our efforts, some content may not yet meet the strictest accessibility standards. Known limitations include:
- Embedded testimonial videos are user-recorded and do not yet include synchronized captions. Captions will be added when professional transcription is completed. In the meantime, written summaries of each video are provided in the surrounding page context.
- Some legacy PDF documents linked from sub-pages may not be fully tagged for assistive technology. If you encounter a PDF you cannot read, please contact us and we will provide an accessible alternative.
If you find an accessibility issue not listed here, please tell us. We will work to address it promptly.
