Service · Piezo Wave Therapy · Buford GA
Focused acoustic waves that drive a repair response in chronic tendon problems that have stopped responding to rest. Plantar fasciitis, Achilles, tennis elbow. In Buford, GA.
Piezo Wave is a focused shockwave therapy. It delivers acoustic pressure waves to a precise depth in the targeted tissue. When a tendon problem has lasted months and rest has stopped helping, that mechanical stimulation prompts a local repair and remodeling response in tissue that had stalled.
Treatment of one area runs roughly 5 to 10 minutes within a visit, prescribed as a course of 3 to 6 weekly sessions. It is paired with progressive tendon loading, because shockwave works best alongside the right exercise, not instead of it. Note that Piezo Wave is acoustic and separate from ARP Wave, which is an electrical neuro-stim therapy.
Best fit injuries
Shockwave is a chronic-tendon tool. It is at its best on problems that have lasted months and have stopped improving with rest and basic care.
/01 Foot
The classic shockwave case. Chronic heel pain that has not settled with stretching, orthotics, and rest. Common in our Buford runners and in anyone on their feet all day at the Mall of Georgia.
/02 Achilles
Stubborn pain and thickening in the Achilles, mid-tendon or at the heel. Shockwave paired with heavy-slow loading is a well-established approach for tendon that has stopped remodeling on its own.
/03 Elbow
Lateral and medial elbow tendinopathy that lingers for months. A frequent pattern in pickleball and tennis players, and in trades that grip and load the forearm all day.
/04 Knee
Jumper's knee, the chronic ache at the base of the kneecap. Basketball and volleyball players, and lifters, when the tendon has not responded to load management alone.
/05 Shoulder
Long-standing rotator cuff tendon pain, including calcific cases. Used as part of a plan with manual therapy and a structured loading program.
/06 Chronic
Persistent myofascial trigger points that keep reforming after release work. Shockwave gives a different input to tissue that has not let go any other way.
How a session runs
/01 Locate
We confirm the diagnosis and pinpoint the exact tendon lesion. Shockwave is focused, so accuracy on the target is what makes it productive.
/02 Deliver the waves
Focused acoustic waves are delivered through a handpiece over the lesion for roughly 5 to 10 minutes. Intensity is set to a level that is productive without being sharp.
/03 Load and reassess
You leave with the loading exercises that pair with the treatment. We reassess across the 3 to 6 session course and adjust as the tendon responds.
FAQ
What is Piezo Wave therapy?
Piezo Wave is a focused shockwave therapy. It delivers acoustic pressure waves to a precise depth in the targeted tissue. For chronic tendon problems that have stalled, the mechanical stimulation prompts a local repair and remodeling response. In Buford, we use it for conditions like plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, and tennis elbow that have not settled with rest alone.
How is Piezo Wave different from ARP Wave?
They are two different technologies that share a similar name. ARP Wave is a neurological electrical stim therapy, paired with active movement, used mostly for acute muscle strains and inhibition. Piezo Wave is acoustic, not electrical. It sends focused pressure waves into chronic tendon and soft-tissue lesions to drive a repair response. Different tool, different problem.
Does Piezo Wave hurt?
You feel a firm tapping or pulsing over the treated area, and it can be tender directly on a sensitive tendon. Most patients tolerate it well. The intensity is adjustable, and we set it to a level that is productive without being sharp. Treatment of a single area is short, usually 5 to 10 minutes.
What does it treat?
It is best suited to chronic tendon conditions: plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, tennis and golfer's elbow, patellar tendinopathy or jumper's knee, calcific shoulder tendinopathy, and stubborn myofascial trigger points. It is most useful when a problem has lasted months and conservative care has plateaued. It is not the right tool for an acute, fresh injury, and we will say so if your case is a better fit for something else.
How many sessions will I need?
A typical course is 3 to 6 weekly sessions. Chronic tendon tissue remodels over weeks, so the response builds across the course and often continues after the last session. We reassess as we go and pair the treatment with loading exercise, since shockwave works best alongside progressive tendon loading.
How much does it cost without insurance?
We are cash-pay. Fees depend on the area treated and the length of the course. Call (770) 614-6551 for an exact quote. We accept HSA, FSA, all major credit cards, and cash. Every visit comes with an itemized superbill you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement on your own. Pricing details →
If Piezo Wave is right for your tendon case, we will say so. If a different approach fits better, we will say that too.
